We Review The 7 Best Linen Curtains (2025)

The Good Trade editors endorse products we’ve personally researched, tested, and genuinely love. Learn more about our methodology and business model here.

I’ve personally reviewed nontoxic and sustainable home goods for years — these are my favorite eco-friendly linen curtains for my home.

If you’re like us and trying to piece together a more nontoxic and sustainable home, you’ll know how difficult it is to find linen curtains. We’ve researched and tested numerous linen curtains to find the very best ones that are eco-friendly, durable, and made with organic and/or sustainable flax.

Why choose linen curtains?

Linen curtains are a popular choice thanks to their timeless elegance and natural aesthetic that suits various interior styles. They offer light filtering properties, allowing natural light to create a soft, diffused glow in your space while still maintaining privacy. Linen’s breathable and insulating qualities also help regulate temperature, making your room feel comfortable year-round while potentially reducing energy costs. Not to mention, they’re hypoallergenic too! Linen is a great eco-friendly option for your home, as it is made from the flax plant, which requires minimal water and pesticides to grow and is completely biodegradable. Made with durability and strength, linen curtains will last for years with proper care. Here’s to bedrooms, living rooms, and personal spaces filled with gorgeous textures, airy fabrics, and a window with a view!

Our criteria:

The Good Trade was sent linen curtains for review, and I’ve personally tested all of the options below, hanging them in my living room and bedroom to test out opacity and weight. All of the options meet the criteria outlined in the section below. Read on after that for my notes on how each brand did.

1. Magic Linen

Best For | OEKO-TEX® certified linen curtains in fun patterns, colors, and styles
Sustainable Materials | OEKO-TEX® certified materials, flax fiber linen
Price | $86–$395

I tested Magic Linen’s Tab Top Linen Curtain Panel in Striped Natural, and I love how they’ve transformed my space. These linen panels are from 100% European flax and stone-washed for maximum softness, and they are OEKO-TEX® certified, putting them at the top of my list. These curtains not only feel incredibly luxurious but also have that effortlessly chic, relaxed vibe I love! Plus, the natural striped design beautifully filters in soft, golden light, creating a calm, welcoming atmosphere in my living room. Of all the brands on this list, I’d recommend Magic Linen as my top choice for airy, sustainable linen curtains. (Or blackout curtains—they have both!)

2. Quince

Best For | Budget-conscious linen curtains with light filtering and black-out options
Sustainable Materials
| 100% European flax linen
Price
| $70–$130

Quince‘s linen curtains, which are available in both light-filtering and blackout styles, bring effortless elegance to any space, whether you’re brightening up a living room or creating a restful retreat in the bedroom. I chose the Coastal Stripe linen curtains (which are technically a cotton/linen blend) with a blackout lining. I was immediately impressed by the weight and timeless, tailored look—especially at such an accessible price point. I’d say these curtains rival that of high-end home brands but with a more manageable price tag. While not the most sustainable option on our list, the brand notes that its curtains are thoughtfully crafted in certified factories committed to sustainability. It’s a great option if you’re on a budget or need to put up curtains in many rooms in your home.

3. Crate & Barrel

For an effortlessly elegant and non-toxic window upgrade, I love Crate & Barrel’s luxe linen curtains. Made from 100% EUROPEAN FLAX™-certified linen with AZO-free dyes and no added phthalates, they offer both style and peace of mind. I specifically tested the Mist Blue & Crisp White Linen Double Pinstripe Grid Window Curtains, which are now on final sale. I love how the 100% cotton liner balances softness and structure while three versatile hanging options (rod pocket, back tabs, or curtain clips) make installation seamless. Whatever style you choose from Crate & Barrel’s collection, these linen curtains are the perfect blend of sophistication and eco-conscious design—whether you’re creating a breezy, laid-back feel or a cozy, light-blocking retreat.

4. 3HLinen

Best For | Customizable OEKO-TEX® certified linen shades
Sustainable Materials
| OEKO-TEX® certified fabrics, 100% European crafted Belgian flax linen
Price
| $31–$280+

If you’ve spent any time on TikTok, you’ve likely seen the buzz around Roman shades. While I’ve always loved linen curtains, I knew a linen blackout shade would be the perfect fit for our bedroom, especially with a baby on the way this summer. 3HLinen’s customizable Belgian flax Roman shades have been a wonderful addition to our home, elevating the space sustainably. This San Francisco brand crafts each shade in Europe using OEKO-TEX-certified materials, so I feel confident knowing it’s both high-quality and eco-friendly. The customization options are endless, too—I was able to choose everything from the fabric type and color to the height and heading, making it simple to find the ideal fit for our bedroom window. Beyond shades, 3HLinen also offers a stunning range of sustainable curtains, sheets, and so much more. They even have thermal curtains as well as some of the prettiest sheer panels.

5. Piglet in Bed

Best For | Gingham linen curtains, short linen curtains
Sustainable Materials | OEKO-TEX® certified linen and cotton blend
Price | $199–$299

For a charming and functional window upgrade, I love Piglet in Bed’s linen curtains—especially their fun gingham patterns and shorter length options, perfect for kitchens, café windows, or covering glass-paneled doors. I personally tried the shorter curtains in Mushroom Gingham and plan to use them in my kitchen for a touch of cozy charm. Sustainably crafted in Portugal, these lightweight voile panels are woven from 55% European linen and 45% long-staple cotton, giving them a soft, airy feel while still offering privacy. Thoughtful details like hidden loops allow for fuss-free hanging and a seamless finish, while the chemical- and dye-free fabric ensures a healthier home environment. Whether you’re drawn to classic neutrals or playful gingham prints, Piglet in Bed makes it easy to add warmth, character, and sustainability to any space.

6. Cultiver

Best For | Luxury sustainable linen curtains
Sustainable Materials | OEKO-TEX® certified, 100% European flax linen
Price | $180

If you know anything about me, you know I’m a forever Cultiver fan. Their linen bedsheets are hands-down the best I’ve ever slept on (which is a bit of a problem because now I can’t imagine replacing them without wincing at the price tag). So, it’s no surprise that their linen curtains are just as dreamy. Made from 100% European flax and OEKO-TEX® certified, these curtains offer the perfect blend of luxury and sustainability, crafted without harmful chemicals. The pre-washed, lightweight linen drapes effortlessly, filling the room with a relaxed, airy vibe. It doesn’t even matter that they only come in natural or white—the simplicity lets in the dreamiest light, creating an atmosphere that’s both calming and elegant. With a rod pocket design for easy hanging and a commitment to thoughtful, eco-conscious production, these curtains bring Cultiver’s signature relaxed luxury beyond the bedroom—and I truly, truly love them.

7. Nordic Knots

Best For | Custom linen curtains with blackout options
Sustainable Materials
| OEKO-TEX® certified linen

| $180–$350+

If you’re looking for luxurious, custom-made linen curtains, Nordic Knots is a sustainable brand we love. These curtains are made to order, so you get a personalized fit for your space, tailored to exactly what you need. I recently tried their fabric samples, and while I haven’t ordered the full curtains yet, I’m already sold—I would 100% order custom linen curtains from them. The deep, rich colors they offer give such an elegant, sophisticated vibe, and the quality is seriously impressive. These curtains are crafted in Sweden, using 100% linen that’s sustainably sourced and OEKO-TEX® certified, meaning no harmful chemicals are used in the production process.
