Valentine’s at Nemacolin: Marie Antoinette-Inspired Tea & Romance

If you’ve been following our travels, you read about our recent Nemacolin review and know we fell head over heels for this mountain retreat last spring. Now, Nemacolin Valentine’s Weekend brings an exclusive high tea experience to this luxurious Pennsylvania resort that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Bisou Bisou: A Marie Antoinette-Inspired Dream

The crown jewel of the weekend is “Bisou Bisou” (meaning “kiss kiss” in French), an extraordinary high tea experience created by the incredibly talented Paris Starn. Known for her work in both the culinary and fashion worlds, Starn has designed an event that perfectly captures the decadence and romance of 18th-century France.

An elegant blue-toned salon with symmetrical layout featuring two damask-upholstered chaise lounges and ornate chairs arranged around marble-topped tables. A dramatic rococo mirror with carved details serves as focal point, crowned by a crystal chandelier visible in the coffered ceiling. The marble floor features geometric inlay patterns, and floor-length pleated curtains frame tall windows.

Taking place from February 14-16, this intimate experience is hidden behind a secret door in The Bleu Room at The Chateau. The setting itself is a work of art, drawing inspiration from Marie Antoinette’s private sanctuary at Versailles, le cabinet de la Méridienne. Think blue marble tiles, hand-painted ceilings, and elegant blue-lacquered furniture that transport you straight to the heart of French luxury.

“I am thrilled to collaborate with Nemacolin to bring Bisou Bisou to life this Valentine’s Day weekend. This event is the realization of an idea I have been wanting to bring to life—to create an enchanting experience that combines the decadence and romance of rococo art with high tea,” says Starn. “The result is a celebration of lust, uninhibited indulgence, and whimsy.”

The multi-course menu promises to be a feast for both the eyes and palate, featuring Starn’s signature artistic touch in every bite. Guests can look forward to savory biscuit sandwiches, delicate tarts, quiches, and an array of decadent sweets including truffles, tartlets, and custards. The experience is elevated further with fragrant teas, champagne, cocktails, and surprise entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Beyond the Tea Room: A Valentine’s Weekend to Remember

What makes Nemacolin truly special is how they create magic across their entire 2,200-acre property. Since 1987, this resort has been the crown jewel of Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands, offering guests their choice of Forbes Travel Guide’s award-winning accommodations. Whether you prefer the grandeur of The Chateau, the modern sophistication of Falling Rock, or the elevated luxury of The Grand Lodge, The Homes, and The Estates, there’s a perfect setting for every romantic getaway. For Valentine’s weekend, they’ve curated an impressive array of romantic experiences:

The Woodlands Spa is offering specially themed treatments that sound good enough to eat (almost!):

  • Cupid’s Glow Facial with chocolate exfoliation
  • Strawberries and Champagne Massage
  • Champagne Toast Mani and Pedi

Foodies will want to make a reservation at the newly opened Gusto!, where Valentine’s Day specials include burrata and caviar, New York strip steak, and a chocolate romance dessert that sounds absolutely divine.

For those seeking outdoor romance, you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the snow-covered Laurel Highlands – perfect for snuggling under blankets and stealing kisses. The resort also offers two Pete Dye-designed championship golf courses, Orvis-endorsed fly fishing, fascinating wildlife experiences, and enlightening art tours throughout the property. And if you’re in the mood for something sparkly, The Hardy Collective by Louis Anthony Jewelers offers an excellent selection of fine jewelry.

“Paris’ visionary approach to culinary design and impeccable attention to detail has transformed the art of high tea into an extraordinary experience,” shares PJ Magerko Liquorice, VP of Brand Strategy at Nemacolin.

We couldn’t agree more – this promises to be an unforgettable way to celebrate love, whether you’re planning a romantic getaway with your significant other or a fabulous Galentine’s escape with friends.
